Our Discussion Groups
Our discussion groups are led by trained parent facilitators. We typically meet every six weeks in each other's homes. Our groups have about 20-30 members, but about 8-12 tend to show up at any given event.
The Class of 2020 parent groups began meeting when the Class of 2020 entered Redwood as freshmen in 2016. Currently we have Class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 groups. If you have a child currently in 8th grade who will be going to Redwood in the fall, please join the Class of 2027 private Facebook Group and here is the link to register for a discussion group!
In these in-person discussion groups, we share ideas and information and get support from one another. We maintain a confidential and non-judgmental atmosphere. We're highly sensitive to the importance of maintaining our children's privacy and trust while getting the support we need as parents.
These groups are not psychotherapy or coaching, but are facilitated by a parent leader to keep schedules and topics on track. We decide on topics and focus on one or two topics per session. We also provide links, resources, information and outside speakers from time to time.
There is a small one-time fee (to be paid when you register online) to cover the cost of administrative costs (TeamSnap, facilitator training materials, office supplies, Zoom fees, etc); otherwise the meetings will be free of charge.
If you're interested in joining a existing group, please contact us here.
If you aren't interested in an in person discussion group, please consider joining one of our private Facebook groups.
